Windborne United Methodist Church has a brief, but rich history. In the fall of 1999 a small group of interested people began meeting weekly in a north Raleigh living room to pray, study, and dream God’s dream for a new church. This group worked together to enable Windborne UMC to launch with public worship services in January of 2000. In October of 2001 the church officially “chartered” as a United Methodist Congregation. Following the chartering process Windborne received a remarkable gift of 15 plus acres in the Six Forks/I -540 corridor. The land was a gift from the estate of Olaf and Rosa Wakefield and a huge shot in the arm for the fledgling congregation. In October of 2002 the church committed to build ministry facilities, with groundbreaking celebrated in September of 2003. On September 12, 2004 we celebrated the Grand Opening of our first permanent worship space
here at 9121 Six Forks Road!

During this period of formation the church has supported a wide variety of hands-on mission projects, including: WIHN, Heifer Project International, Hurricane relief work teams, World Vision, and The Durham Rescue Mission. During our first year in the new building we have already hosted our Grand Opening event, concerts, art exhibitions, 40 Days of Purpose with over 100 people engaged in small group ministry, and have hosted our first week for Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network.

Our mission is “to make disciples of Jesus Christ…” and our journey of faith with Christ continues………with JOY!!! Come join us.

William Allen :: William lead Windborne as the bishop appointed Senior Pastor from November 2006 – April 2008.

Jon Strother :: Jon was the charter pastor of Windborne.  Jon served as the appointed Senior pastor from July 1999 - October 2006.  

Amy Meador :: Amy started with Windborne during her tenure as a divinity student at Duke University. When she graduated she was hired as a full time Associate Pastor.  Amy served Windborne from July 2003 - June 2006.
