"where faith is given wings"

Verse of The Day
“Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.” (Titus 2:2)

Welcome to Windborne United Methodist Church

Thank you for taking a closer look at Windborne UMC.  We are a United Methodist Church located in Raleigh, NC. Our congregation is a diverse group of people linked together in a shared journey.  Our church's name reminds us that we are all cared for and carried by the unseen power of God.  We as a church believe that we need to inspire all people to live our faith in mission to the local community of North Raleigh and to the world.

At Windborne, we aim to glorify God in lively worship; to introduce people to Jesus Christ through evangelism; to help persons to become committed Christians through ministries of discipleship; and we aim to train, equip, and inspire members to live out their faith outside the walls of the church through ministries of service.

As United Methodists, we emphasize our personal faith, living it out in concrete ways in the world. We value well-informed and passionate preaching, worship that is lively, and small groups where people can grow in faith.  Methodists have open hearts, and open minds--and welcome anyone interested in learning more about the Christian faith.

Also, we hope you join us this Sunday for our traditional worship service at 8:30 am or our blended worship celebration at 10:30 am in our North Raleigh home at 9121 Six Forks Rd (entrance on Baileywick Rd). We hope you will explore all the ways you can strengthen your faith through worship, small groups and service in the community.

Thank you for visiting our web site. We hope to see you soon.

Telling the Truth

Read Acts 22:1-16

It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken."

I joined the church when I was young but didn't know what being a Christian meant. I was attracted to church activities: singing songs, having overnight prayer meetings, and eating goat meat at church gatherings.

Our parents were the first to join a new church in our area, and we followed them. Many people laughed at us because most members of the church were older; it was like the church of old people. Our faith decreased because of how our friends looked at us. When they asked me to what church I belonged or if I still went to that church, I told them lies: "Oh, I stopped going to that church some time ago."

One day as I was reading the Bible, I came across the story of Paul. This apostle told people the truth about the life he lived before he knew Christ. Paul spoke with confidence, telling the truth in the presence of a commander and a mob of people, even though people had threatened to kill him. Shame on me for failing to tell the truth to my relatives, who would not harm me!

Speaking about Christ is part of what it means to be Christian.

Kondwani Beza (Mzimba, Malawi)

Thank you, God, for giving us life and for protecting us from harm. You are worthy of praise! Keep us from going in the wrong direction, call to us when we are lost, and lead us in the right direction. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Fall Bible Studies

Why should we study God's word?  How and when can we study His word?  There are lots of different ways to study the Bible this fall.

Matthew 18:20 says "for where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them."  Invite God into your group.  Gather with others and learn from His gift of His word.
